Larnaca: Foreign couple investigated for two failed robbery attempts
An Israeli and a Romanian man have been arrested for attempted robbery at a jewellery shop in Drossia, Larnaca, and are also being investigated for an attempted robbery at a bank in Kiti.

Police in Larnaca are holding an Israeli man and a Romanian man in custody, who are alleged to have attempted to rob a jewellery shop in Drossia in early July, whilst investigation is also underway into their involvement in a similar attempted robbery at a bank branch in Kiti in June.
The first incident occurred when an unknown man entered a jewellery shop and threatened the elderly owner with a gun. The attacker was wearing a black long-sleeved shirt and a food delivery vest, and had covered his head with a black motorcycle helmet. When the victim resisted, the perpetrator struck him on the head with the pistol, causing serious injury. Despite his injuries, the 73-year-old man managed to chase away the intruder, who then escaped in a car that was waiting outside.
The second case involves a bank branch in Kiti. The two men arrived at the scene in a saloon car, parked on the pavement and headed towards the entrance with covered faces and bags. The door did not open due to a controlled access system. A few minutes later, they returned to the car and disappeared.
The two suspects are being held by court order, whilst investigations continue by the Larnaca CID.
