Limassol District Court ordered eight days' detention for a young man arrested as the recipient of a courier parcel containing approximately 8 kilogrammes of narcotic substances.
Limassol: 30-year-old remanded in custody for eight days over drugs package
Limassol District Court ordered the eight-day detention on Tuesday of a 30-year-old man of Indian origin who was arrested as the recipient of a courier company package within which approximately eight kilogrammes of narcotic substances were found.
The package contained 40 plastic packages with dried poppy seed pods. The arrest was made during an organised operation by the Drug Enforcement Service.
The young man is said to be denying any involvement and is making various claims which are being examined by the prosecuting authorities.
He was brought before the court in the morning, which approved the investigating officers' request for provisional detention of eight days. The offences he faces concern conspiracy to commit a felony, importation, possession and supplying narcotic substances to third parties.
