Man jailed 10 years over 12.5kg cannabis haul in Paphos
A Paphos criminal court sentenced a 36-year-old to a decade behind bars after convicting him of keeping cannabis meant for distribution. The panel tacked on an extra three years for careless driving, to be served concurrently with the main term, so the overall stay in prison remains ten years.
The episode goes back to May 2025, when Cyprus narcotics officers intercepted the man—then aged 35—whilst he was operating a vehicle in Paphos. In the course of the operation, the car he was driving collided with two police vehicles. A follow-up search revealed over 12.5 kilogrammes of cannabis plus a small quantity of what is believed to be cocaine. He was apprehended on the spot and held in custody pending the outcome of his trial.
