New email fraud: Citizens deceived for banking data

The Police have issued a warning to the public regarding false email messages circulating that purport to originate from credit institutions.

These messages are sent by perpetrators who present themselves as bank representatives. Their purpose is to obtain sensitive personal and financial information from recipients. Users are asked to provide information such as access codes, account numbers and card details.

The authorities recommend that citizens do not disclose personal data to third parties and verify the identity of anyone who contacts them by contacting the official service channels of the banks directly.

In cases where individuals have already shared such information, they should immediately notify their credit institution to prevent malicious use of their details.
