A 28-year-old was arrested in Ammochostos district for a series of vehicle thefts. Police discovered numerous suspicious items in the hotel room where he was staying.
Young man arrested in Ammochostos for series of vehicle thefts
A 28-year-old man was taken into police custody on Tuesday in Ammochostos district, following a warrant that had been issued against him.
The arrest was related to a vehicle break-in that occurred on 15 June 2026. When officers investigated the hotel room where he was staying, they discovered numerous items he could not justify. Among these were technology devices, wallets, bags, fragrances and car keys. Everything was seized.
Because he did not provide convincing answers as to how the items came to be in his possession, he was arrested again for unlawful possession of property.
During the interrogations, evidence emerged implicating him in a further twelve vehicle thefts. In total he faces thirteen charges.
On Wednesday morning he was brought before Ammochostos District Court, where it was decided to detain him for eight days. Investigations by TAE Ammochostos continue.
