On Saturday evening, prosecuting authorities carried out extensive checks at critical points in urban centres throughout the Republic. The aim of the operations was to prevent serious criminal activities, maintain social peace and strengthen residents' sense of security.

According to a report by Politis, eight persons were taken into custody, facing various charges. These included possession of prohibited substances, operation of a vehicle whilst the driver was under the influence of alcohol, and unlawful residence in the country.

During the operation, 511 vehicles were examined and checks were conducted on 652 drivers and passengers. In parallel, 58 inspections were carried out at commercial and other premises, from which 8 reports were filed.
