Police forces carried out 8 arrests and identified 36 drivers driving under the influence of substances or alcohol in island-wide operations.

During evening checks in urban centres across the island, police forces proceeded to arrest eight people for various offences.
According to Philenews, those arrested are accused of illegal possession of substances, driving whilst under the influence of alcohol, and illegal stay on the territory of the Republic of Cyprus.
Officers examined 511 vehicles and 652 people who were inside or outside vehicles. In parallel, 58 checks were carried out in shops and other premises, which resulted in 8 complaints.
On the roads, 329 traffic violations were recorded, with almost one third relating to excessive speed. Specifically, 96 drivers were found to be exceeding speed limits. In addition, of 291 alcohol tests, 30 were positive. In 10 checks for substances, 6 showed use.
At the same time, 22 vehicles were immobilised and taken to a holding facility.
The operations are being carried out on a daily basis, with increased presence on the roads and specialised checks, with the aim of protecting the public and maintaining lawfulness.
