Turkish Cypriot Ali Hasan confessed to his significant role in the murder of businessman Giokan Naim during an armed robbery at a currency exchange branch in Nicosia in March 2019.
According to Cyprus Today, Hasan fled to southern Cyprus following the murder but was extradited the previous week to face justice in the occupied areas, as stated by assistant police inspector Feyyaz Inetzi at Nicosia District Court.
Mr Inetzi stated that Hasan gave a statement to police in which he confessed that he and others had been involved in the murder of Mr Naim and had stolen "a bag full of cash" during the robbery.
Hasan requested and was granted permission to address the court, where he stated that he deeply regrets what he did.
