Organised patrols at critical points in urban areas across Cyprus led to the arrest of twelve individuals for theft, robbery and unlawful residence, as well as hundreds of traffic violations.

During the night of the previous day, police forces were mobilised at national level, conducting systematic patrols at key points in urban centres. The operation aimed to prevent serious criminal offences, maintain social peace and strengthen the sense of protection among citizens.

These actions resulted in the arrest of twelve individuals, who are accused of various offences. These include cases of theft, armed robbery, unlawful residence in the territory of the Republic, as well as violations of the traffic code.

During the operation, 582 individuals driving vehicles and 206 passengers were stopped for inspection. At the same time, 40 inspections were carried out at shops and other premises, aimed at combating lawbreaking, which resulted in two criminal prosecutions.

Regarding traffic inspections, 331 violations were recorded for various breaches of traffic regulations, whilst 13 new investigations were opened for traffic offences. Of the total violations, 77 were related to driving above the permitted speed limit.

In addition, authorities seized 13 vehicles. In 90 alcohol measurement tests, two cases of drivers under the influence of alcohol were detected. Furthermore, three preliminary tests for narcotic substances were conducted, with two of these returning positive results.
