Cyprus Bar Association: Board seeks investigation into Anti-Corruption Authority findings on 'Mafia State'
The need to investigate the findings of the Independent Anti-Corruption Authority regarding the 'Mafia State' case is being emphasised by the Cyprus Bar Association, whilst simultaneously expressing strong concern about the conclusions contained in the relevant report.
The professional association of Cyprus's legal professionals points out that the issues that emerge touch upon fundamental pillars of state functioning, such as proper governance, accountability of officials, and the smooth operation of institutions.
In a statement, the Association stresses that the protection of Cyprus's international image and the restoration of public confidence in state mechanisms require immediate mobilisation by the competent authorities. It specifically calls for them to proceed with an investigation of the Authority's conclusions, in accordance with constitutional procedures and with full respect for the presumption of innocence.
The organisation is committed to continuing to closely monitor developments surrounding the case, remaining at the disposal of the State for its institutional role.
