A luxurious residence at Cabo Greko belonging to naturalised Malaysian Jho Low is to be sold at auction. The Anti-Money Laundering Unit (MOKAS) managed to secure a confiscation order for the property.
According to Philenews, the case is considered unprecedented, as the confiscation was carried out without a prior criminal conviction. The competent authority issued search and seizure warrants for the property and its contents.
The villa includes a swimming pool, gymnasium, cinema, billiards room and other facilities. Its value is estimated at several million euros.
Jho Low had obtained Cypriot nationality through an investment programme under contested circumstances. The property matter forms part of broader investigations into money laundering that connect him to the 1MDB scandal.
