On Saturday, messages referring to explosive devices triggered alerts at shopping centres and other locations across Cyprus. Authorities mobilised bomb disposal experts and conducted searches, but found nothing suspicious.

The messages were sent to stores in Nicosia and Paphos, to KEMA, and to additional locations. The sender signed with the name "David" and had left a mobile phone number. The content of the messages was unclear.

Police located an individual and questioned them. The claims they presented are being examined, however insufficient material emerged to warrant detention.
