Panic gripped the Xylophagou area when residents discovered an old rifle at a beach location. The find, a heavily rusted G3, was spotted in shallow water.
According to an official announcement from the British Bases, the report arrived at 17:30. Officers from the Bases rushed to the scene and launched an investigation.
The British Bases report that there is close cooperation with the state services of the Republic, including the Cyprus Police and the National Guard. The aim is to determine how and where the weapon came from.
Examinations are continuing and no further details have been disclosed so far.
