The authorities of the pseudostate in Cyprus arrested the 43-year-old Russian Alexei Sokba, who was wanted for the murder of Vangelis Zambuni, according to iefimerida.gr citing the Cyprus News Agency.

The arrest was carried out in the occupied Aghios Amvrosios of Kyrenia. Details of the suspect had been released to the public by ELAS in early August.

According to the website "Kibris Postasi", Sokba was brought before a "court" in the Occupied Areas, where he was charged with illegal residence and violation of a "military restricted zone".

A member of the pseudostate's police force testified that the suspect had been living illegally in the Occupied Areas for 389 days. He also reported that he had crossed secretly to the free areas via Tymvos and returned in the same manner in July.

The "court" issued an "order" for three days' detention, whilst an investigation is underway into the purpose of his presence and possible involvement in other offences.
