Three arrested for robbery of 65-year-old in Larnaca
Police have arrested three suspects alleged to have assaulted, abducted and robbed an elderly man in the Larnaca area. The victim knew two of the perpetrators.
Three arrested for robbery of 65-year-old in Larnaca
Police authorities have arrested three suspects who are accused of violent assault, abduction and theft against a 65-year-old in Larnaca province. The arrested individuals were brought before court with a request for remand in custody.
The incident came to light following a complaint from the victim himself. According to his account, he met three men on Monday in the wider Larnaca area. Of these, he recognised two, aged 32 and 42 respectively. During the meeting, the older of the two allegedly struck him and took from him a sum of money totalling three hundred euros, his mobile phone, as well as the keys to his car.
Subsequently, the three perpetrators allegedly forced him to enter a vehicle driven by the third man, previously unknown to him. They transported him to a warehouse belonging to the victim himself in a community in the province. At this location, they removed additional items that were there and disappeared.
Following the complaint, officers from the Crime Detection Department of Nicosia located and arrested the two known suspects in the capital area. With them was found a third person, who was identified as the driver of the vehicle mentioned by the victim.
The investigation is being conducted by Kofinias Police Station.
