Police have arrested a 42-year-old man in connection with an attempted robbery at a bank branch in Larnaca on 19 June. A 41-year-old man was arrested on 11 July in relation to the same incident.

Second suspect arrested over attempted bank robbery in Larnaca

Prosecuting authorities have today arrested a 42-year-old man as part of investigations into an attempted robbery at a bank branch in the Larnaca area on 19 June. A second man, aged 41, had already been taken into custody on 11 July in connection with the same incident. Both men are now being held.

In a statement, police noted that the 42-year-old was brought in on the basis of a court warrant. The same sources indicate that investigators are examining whether the two detainees were also involved in an attempted robbery at a jewellery shop in the Larnaca area.

At the same time, the 42-year-old is also facing charges for theft of vehicle registration plates, which took place on 19 June in the same district.

The two men remain in custody, whilst authorities continue their investigations into the jewellery shop incident.
