Fourth arrested for attacks on delivery drivers in Paphos
An 18-year-old was arrested on Tuesday in connection with group attacks on five delivery drivers in Paphos on 18 August. Three other suspects are already in custody.
Fourth arrested for attacks on delivery drivers in Mouttallos area
An 18-year-old was arrested on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. in connection with group attacks on five delivery drivers in Paphos, according to Cyprus Mail. The minor is being investigated for conspiracy to commit a felony, robbery and bodily harm.
Three other suspects had already been arrested in connection with the case and remain in custody pending the investigation.
The four suspects are alleged to be involved in attacks that occurred on the evening of 18 August in the Mouttallos area of Paphos. The incident began when a 26-year-old delivery driver arrived in the area to deliver an order. An unknown man, who was allegedly accompanied by three other people, refused to pay and subsequently attacked the driver, throwing a stone at him.
The delivery driver notified his colleagues, who rushed to the scene. At the same time, approximately ten people — some of whom were allegedly carrying metal objects — arrived at the scene. The group is alleged to have attacked the delivery drivers, knocking them down and causing damage to their motorcycles.
Subsequently, four members of the group got into a vehicle and headed into Mouttallos, where they located a 22-year-old delivery driver who had just completed a delivery. Three of the individuals got out of the vehicle, attacked the driver and robbed him, taking money and his mobile phone, before fleeing.
In total, five delivery drivers were injured and transported to Paphos General Hospital for medical treatment.
Paphos police are investigating offences involving conspiracy to commit a felony and misdemeanour, loitering, robbery, bodily harm, unlawful possession and transport of a dangerous object, joint assault and damage to another's property.
