Police authorities have arrested three suspects aged 56, 62 and 76, following a complaint regarding the illegal transfer of property in the Nicosia area. The charges they face include conspiracy to defraud, fraudulent acts against the property of others, as well as the creation of forged documents.
The investigation began when two people aged 61 and 63 came forward to the prosecuting authorities on 15 June. The complainants claimed that their plot of land in the wider Nicosia area had been transferred to an unknown third party without their ever having given consent.
During the interrogations, evidence emerged against the 56-year-old woman. On 18 June the woman was arrested and brought before the District Court of the capital, where the judge ordered her remand in custody for eight days.
Further investigations followed which led to evidence against the two men. The 62-year-old was arrested on 21 June and was presented yesterday before the same court, which approved eight days' remand in custody for him. The 76-year-old was arrested one day later, on 22 June, and today was brought before a judge, who issued a similar order for provisional custody.
The Nicosia Investigation Department continues to examine the facts.
