Three remanded pending trial for Larnaca abduction and mugging
Judges at a Larnaca courthouse on Wednesday remanded three defendants to six days in custody whilst detectives build their case file.
Officers say the group targeted a 65-year-old local man, beating him, bundling him into a vehicle and ransacking his home. The pensioner told investigators on Monday that he recognised two of the assailants. One of them allegedly punched him repeatedly, took €300 from his pockets, grabbed his mobile phone and stole the keys to his car. The attackers then allegedly shoved the victim into a vehicle, drove to his home, removed several possessions, loaded them into his own car and drove away.
Police tracked the suspects down in the capital and placed them under arrest.
The case file includes charges of aggravated theft, unlawful detention, physical assault and causing injuries.
