At today's Cabinet meeting, the case that emerged from the Anti-Corruption Authority's investigation, which focuses on the book of journalist Makarios Drusiotis, is expected to be put up for discussion. The government body is expected to make a decision on the appointment of independent criminal investigating magistrates, who will be tasked with examining any criminal liability arising from the conclusions of the investigation.
The Legal Service announced yesterday that the Prosecution Council decided to forward immediately the full contents of the Anti-Corruption Authority's report, together with the final findings of the inspectors and accompanying material, to the Police and the Cabinet.
The prosecutorial decision was based on the need to begin criminal investigation as soon as possible, given the considerable public interest that the case presents, as well as the need to preserve the normal functioning of state institutions and the administration of justice.
