A court order for five days' detention has been secured against a 46-year-old man and his 44-year-old partner, who have been arrested as suspects in a series of burglaries and thefts in the Limassol area. The decision was made by the local district court, with police investigations still ongoing.

The two accused are believed to have adopted a particular modus operandi: they removed aluminium frames from doors and windows, whilst leaving the glass panes in place. The incidents that have been solved occurred over the past period.

The initial complaint was made by a 50-year-old contractor who discovered that his rural residence in the village of Moniatyis had been broken into during the previous month. From inside the property, three large sliding metal doors with their shading systems were missing, as well as four corresponding windows, and three air-conditioning compressor units.

A second complaint was filed by the owner of a catering shop in Alyassa, which was not operating at that time. The victim was alerted by the security system with cameras that an alarm had been triggered. When he arrived at the location, he saw a woman sitting inside a vehicle. When he asked her about her presence there, she replied that she had stopped for personal reasons and left.

Officers from Lania police station rushed to the scene of the incident, where they established that six metal windows had been removed. As in the first case, the perpetrators had left behind only the glass panes. Through analysis of visual material from the cameras, the investigative authorities identified the couple, who had previous involvement in similar cases.

Following the issuance of the relevant warrants, the two suspects were located and taken to a police station. During questioning, they preferred not to answer questions. The authorities are continuing their investigations to locate the removed items, whilst searches are being planned in selected locations.
