A 65-year-old woman became the victim of an armed robbery on Prague metro last Wednesday. The incident occurred on 10 June shortly after 1 p.m. in a carriage on line B between Florenc and Křižíkova stations, heading towards Černý Most.
According to police spokesman Tomáš Lahoda, the injured woman was sitting on a seat in the last carriage with her rucksack placed on her lap. An unknown man approached her and attempted to seize her luggage. The woman resisted, and during the struggle over the rucksack, the attacker struck her on the hand to force her to let go.
Other passengers came to the aid of the attacked woman. At the moment the train stopped at Křižíkova station, the man jumped out of the carriage and disappeared. The woman reported the entire incident to police immediately. However, due to the shock she had suffered, she was unable to describe the perpetrator in detail.
Detectives are now searching for the man. For the crime of robbery with which he is charged, he faces up to ten years imprisonment if convicted. Police are also seeking witnesses to the entire incident, particularly those who assisted the woman on the metro. They can provide their information on the telephone number 158.
