Authorities intervene again at Karlos Vémola's home over illegal lion cub ownership
On Tuesday morning, a state agency intervention took place at the property of the renowned mixed martial arts fighter in a village near the Czech capital. Police officers together with workers from the ministry of nature protection arrived at the property inhabited by Karlos Vémola.
The reason for the visit by the security forces was a large feline predator held on the grounds. It is a lioness named Elsa. The state administration has already attempted unsuccessfully to seize this animal in the past. The previous two attempts were unsuccessful because the owner refused to hand over the animal. This is now the third attempt. In addition, the animal lacks a certificate of origin. According to a valid ruling, it is to be transported to a zoo in the north Bohemian town of Liberec.
This intervention comes shortly after a family crisis. The sportsman's partner Lela moved out with the children from their shared home. The reason was the breakdown of the relationship, which had been the subject of speculation for a long time. Vémola himself confirmed the split through social media.
Lela found a new home with three children in a recently constructed apartment building. She admitted to journalists that caring for the children alone is demanding. However, she appreciated that she and her former partner maintain a respectful relationship. She stated that they are working together to ensure that the children grow up in a peaceful environment. The sportsman allegedly contributes financially to their upbringing.
