27-year-old attacks three police patrol cars in Munich
In Bavaria's state capital, a 27-year-old attacked three police vehicles on Monday morning. The man hurled stones at the parked cars, smashing their windscreens. The vehicles were rendered inoperable as a result.
The incident occurred at around quarter to ten directly in front of the police station in the Au district. Because the scene of the crime was directly in front of the precinct, officers present at the station were able to apprehend the attacker immediately. The arrested person is currently being held in a Munich police detention facility. A judge will decide on possible remand in custody.
The suspect is a man known to police without fixed residence. He had previously come to the attention of authorities for various offences. According to a statement by a spokesman for the authority, the man had in the past damaged police vehicles in a similar manner.
The damage to the three patrol cars is considerable. The vehicles had to be temporarily taken out of service.
