A trial begins today at Nuremberg court against an employee of the Middle Franconia police headquarters. According to the public prosecutor's office, the woman repeatedly took cash from the evidence storage facility – the total damage is said to be just under 200,000 euros.
The accused worked in evidence management. To access the cash, she is said to have unauthorised procured a key. After her colleagues' shift ended, she allegedly used the opportunity to open the safe.
According to the indictment, the theft occurred in six instances. The cash taken came from various criminal contexts: uncovered drug trafficking, forced prostitution and money laundering.
To avoid being discovered, the police employee is said to have passed the money to her former partner. He then forwarded the sums to other persons. The woman retained control of the funds at all times.
Her ex-boyfriend is also on the defendant's bench. He is accused of money laundering the stolen cash.
