Berlin teacher under suspicion: sexual offence against minor in care
Berlin police are investigating a 39-year-old teacher at the Paul-und-Charlotte-Kniese community school in the Lichtenberg district. According to stern.de, the allegation is rape of a minor in care – the alleged victim is a 15-year-old pupil at the school.
According to parents, the teacher is said to have initially persuaded the teenager to meet outside school. Whether drugs played a role in this is unconfirmed. How long the intimate contact between the teacher and the minor lasted remains unclear.
The woman filed a written statement to Berlin police through her lawyer on 1 September. Whether she recognised her misconduct independently or whether growing pressure from the relationship becoming known led her to do so is subject to the ongoing investigation.
A police spokeswoman confirmed: "The investigation into the case is being handled by the State Crime Office, Department 1, Crimes Against Persons." She refused to provide further information, citing the age of the underage victim.
As recently as last Thursday, police questioned several pupils at the school about the alleged relationship. The news had already spread among part of the student body by that time.
According to information from the Bild newspaper, the teacher has been relieved of teaching duties.
