In the night leading into Sunday, two 22-year-old men broke into Augsburg town hall via construction scaffolding. Police noticed the pair whilst they were climbing up and surrounded the building. Emergency responders monitored the incident using an unmanned aerial drone.

When officers entered the town hall, the two men attempted to escape over a railing. Their arrest was made outside. One of the two men insulted the police officers and refused to get into the patrol car. At the station, he continued his aggressive behaviour and slightly injured two officers. He was subsequently taken into custody.

The motives for the burglary remain unknown so far. The investigating authorities are examining charges of trespassing against both suspects. Additional investigations are being conducted against one man for resisting police officers, insulting behaviour and assault.
