During a large-scale search operation for a three-month-old baby, the body of an infant has been found near Renningen in Baden-Württemberg. Police believe it is the abducted child.
The baby went missing from a pram during the night of 18 to 19 June. The parents reported the disappearance to police at around 23:30. The child had been left unattended briefly when an unknown person took it from the pram and removed it, according to police spokesman Steffen Grabenstein.
The search operation involved 40 search dogs, including specialist cadaver dogs, as well as a helicopter and several drones. The body was finally discovered at around 13:45 between Renningen and the Malmsheim district, near the Rankbach.
For investigative reasons, police are currently providing no further details about the circumstances of the discovery. Identification of the dead infant is still ongoing. The investigation continues.
