A 67-year-old woman who evaded justice for decades has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term in Germany.

A 67-year-old woman was sentenced to 13 years in prison in Germany on Wednesday. She was once a member of the far-left Red Army Faction, which was responsible for numerous acts of violence in the 1970s and 1980s.
The trial lasted 14 months. The judges found the defendant guilty of serious armed robbery and illegal possession of weapons. Together with two accomplices, she is said to have carried out several raids on armoured cash transports and supermarkets between 1999 and 2016. The total haul was approximately 2.7 million euros.
The two co-conspirators remain at large. The prosecution had called for 15 years in prison, but the court classified an attack on an armoured cash transport near Bremen as robbery rather than attempted murder.
The convicted woman lived underground for three decades. For approximately twenty years she lived in a Berlin apartment under a false identity. When she was arrested in February 2024, officers seized explosives, an assault rifle and large sums of money.
The RAF officially dissolved in 1998. The woman is regarded as part of the organisation's last generation.
