In the cold case surrounding missing former biker boss Süleyman Cakici, Oldenburg police have for the first time identified a concrete lead on a possible motive for the crime. As ndr.de reports, investigators discovered a forged police seizure protocol that apparently was intended to cover up an embezzled drug shipment.
According to a report in the Nordwest Zeitung, the document was meant to give Cakici's drug business partners the impression that police had confiscated the goods. Whether this evidence is actually connected to Cakici's disappearance is the subject of ongoing investigations. A police spokesman was initially unavailable for comment.
Cakici, former boss of the group "Hells Angels Turkey Nomads", has been missing since July 2017. He was 29 years old at the time. Investigators are working on the assumption that a homicide was committed.
Thomas Weber, head of the Oldenburg police inspectorate, emphasised that the authority had never abandoned the search for new investigative leads. "Even though the crime was a long time ago, we have never stopped looking for new investigative approaches," Weber said. It had now been possible to find "a possibly decisive piece of the puzzle".
Weber stressed the authority's determination to fully clarify the case: "Murder does not expire." In the investigations, methods were employed that had not previously been available to the police and the LKA.
Following a public broadcast about the case, numerous leads came in to police. The authority has set up a portal through which information can also be submitted anonymously.
