A 37-year-old man from Warstein was caught at the wheel of a stolen car. Officers arrested the suspect provisionally and held him in custody to prevent further offences.
The incident occurred in Beckum-Neubeckum. When the driver noticed that he was to be subjected to a police check, he attempted to escape. He fled on foot and sought cover in nearby bushes.
The search measures initiated immediately proved successful: police officers discovered the man in the immediate vicinity and were able to apprehend him. Following his arrest, the search for the stolen vehicle was called off.
An investigation is now underway against the 37-year-old.
