The train conductor remained uninjured. The body camera worn by the train conductor was decisive in identifying the suspect: using the video footage, investigators were able to locate the man.
On Tuesday, he was brought before the magistrates' court in Bensheim at the request of the public prosecutor. The responsible judge ordered pre-trial detention on suspicion of aggravated extortion. Violence against train staff has been a repeated issue in the region in recent months.
