On Friday evening and overnight into 20 June 2026, officers conducted an extensive raid in two districts of Magdeburg considered particularly problematic. The focus areas were Neue Neustadt and the area around Hasselbachplatz.
The officers searched several gastronomic establishments, primarily bars and entertainment venues. In doing so, they discovered a series of criminal offences and regulatory violations. During the checks they found illegal drugs, resulting in violations of the Narcotics Act. Prohibited weapons were also being carried and immigration laws were breached. Additionally, officers discovered unlicensed gaming machines.
Besides local patrol officers, the operation involved specialist units from the state criminal investigation office, riot police and the central operations service. Municipal employees from the city administration and customs officials also participated.
The overnight checks complemented regular patrol activity in these areas. Police Sachsen-Anhalt emphasised that they intended to maintain a presence in the affected districts and strengthen the sense of security among residents.
