Expert witness: Criminal responsibility despite mental disorder
According to n-tv, an expert witness has confirmed the criminal responsibility of defendant Gina H. in the murder case of eight-year-old Fabian from Güstrow. The psychiatric-forensic expert witness Peter Keiper confirmed that the 30-year-old had a borderline-type personality disorder as well as a learning disability, but these were not so pronounced as to have significantly impaired her capacity to control her behaviour at the time of the alleged offence.
The specialist also pointed to psychopathic tendencies in the defendant, which manifested themselves in callous and manipulative behaviour aimed at exploiting others. Despite her psychological problems, he assessed that she was able to recognise the unlawfulness of the act alleged against her "in full".
According to the prosecution, H. is said to have stabbed the boy on 10 October 2025 at a pond near Klein Upahl and subsequently set the corpse on fire. The public prosecutor's office suspects the motive for the crime lies in the relationship between the defendant and Fabian's father. The 30-year-old denies the allegations. She has been receiving a disability pension due to mental health problems since 2015.
Following the conclusion of the evidence phase, closing arguments are scheduled for 29 and 30 October, with a possible verdict potentially coming on 10 November.
