Man on motorcycle flees police control – witness prevents escape in Hesse
On Monday afternoon, a dangerous incident in traffic occurred in Gelnhausen. A 44-year-old man on a motorcycle attempted to evade a police check. Officers had previously noticed him because the motorcycle bore no official registration plates.
During the flight, the suspect also travelled on pedestrian paths. A female passer-by had to swerve in time to avoid being run over. On a field path, the fugitive was finally forced to stop because a parked vehicle blocked the way.
The owner of this vehicle, who was nearby, recognised the situation and rushed to assist. He grabbed the 44-year-old and prevented his further escape. The suspect knocked over his vehicle and attempted to flee on foot, but the officers who were summoned caught up with him and took him into custody.
Upon later examination, it was revealed: the man had neither a valid driving licence nor insurance cover for his motorcycle. There was also reasonable suspicion that he had consumed intoxicating substances. A blood sample was ordered.
The investigating authorities are now examining several offences, including possible endangerment of road traffic. Witnesses who observed the incident are asked to contact the police.
