A 42-year-old man died during an operation in Remscheid. He is said to have previously intimidated two minors with tear gas and then sprayed it at the officers who arrived at the scene. He then fled.

The officers encountered him again later. An attempt to stop him with a taser failed. Thereupon, the man is said to have thrown tools at the police officers. An officer then opened fire. Despite immediate assistance, the man died at the scene.

Hagen police are now investigating. Another police service took over the case to ensure the investigation remains neutral.
