Massacre in Stade: Six dead in custody dispute
A scheduled meeting regarding custody of a child ended in bloodshed in Stade, Lower Saxony on Monday. A 45-year-old man killed six people who worked at the facility in question.
The attacker had appeared for the meeting to negotiate custody of his daughter. Police in Lüneburg announced this at a press conference on the evening of the incident. Among the murdered are four women and two men.
After the shooting, the suspect fled in a vehicle. Officers arrested him nearby after pursuing him. A firearm was found in the car.
A woman aged 65 was also arrested. She is believed to have been driving the getaway vehicle and is close to the perpetrator's family. Additionally, the child's mother was taken into police custody.
On the day after the incident, the area around the scene remained cordoned off. Investigators continue working to clarify the case.
