Knife attack at school in Gosen-Neu Zittau: 18-year-old girl and man killed, attacker arrested
An 18-year-old student and a 30-year-old man were stabbed to death at the Docemus secondary school in Gosen-Neu Zittau. A 19-year-old was arrested.

A 19-year-old killed two people with a knife at the Docemus secondary school in Gosen-Neu Zittau, Brandenburg, on Thursday afternoon. According to 20 Minuten, citing the Märkische Allgemeine Zeitung, the suspected perpetrator was arrested at the scene of the crime.
At around 13:45, the teenager attacked several people on the school grounds on Berliner Strasse. Whether he was himself a student of the school was initially not known. The district of Gosen-Neu Zittau lies directly on the south-eastern city boundary of Berlin.
The victims are an 18-year-old student of the secondary school and a 30-year-old man. The latter is said to have died when he attempted to stop the attacker. According to initial findings by investigators, the suspected perpetrator was the ex-partner of the killed student.
A spokesman for the East Police Directorate confirmed to the MAZ that an active shooter alarm was triggered at the school. Police were present with a large contingent; the school grounds were cordoned off from 14:00 onwards. The fire service, emergency services, and two helicopters were also deployed. Several parents arrived to pick up their children.
School chief executive Michael Kunz told the MAZ that regular lessons on Friday would be cancelled. Students who nonetheless wished to visit the school would be welcome: "Together with our staff and professional support services, we want to provide them with a safe space where they can come together, talk to one another, and process what has happened as a community."
Brandenburg's Minister-President Dietmar Woidke (SPD) said the violent act "shakes our entire state". He emphasised that schools should be a safe place for young people.
Brandenburg's parliament president Ulrike Liedtke (SPD) condemned the act "as a cowardly femicide that has no place in our society". Liedtke went on to state: "That we were once again witness to fatal violence against a woman fills me with deep sorrow and anger."
