Murder trial Güstrow: Gina H. breaks silence for first time in case of Fabian (8)

Accused Gina H. testifies for first time at Rostock Regional Court
In the murder trial concerning the killed eight-year-old from Güstrow, the accused Gina H. took the floor for the first time on Monday at 9.30 am. According to 20 Minuten, her defence lawyers had announced her testimony at the Rostock Regional Court several weeks earlier.
According to the indictment, the 30-year-old is responsible for stabbing the boy Fabian on 10 October 2025 at a pond near Klein Upahl, approximately 15 kilometres south of Güstrow, and subsequently setting his body on fire. The body was found on 14 October.
Incomplete mobile phone and vehicle data incriminates the accused
Gina H.'s mobile phone data is described in the trial as "extremely incomplete". On the day of the crime, her device transmitted no data for an entire hour. The records of her pick-up truck also show a conspicuous gap: all vehicle data between 3 September and 13 October are missing — precisely the period in which Fabian's death occurred. "It is very strange, because the data are suddenly present again from 13 October onwards," said the expert witness who examined the vehicle according to Stern. Although he ruled out manual deletion as "virtually impossible", he could not rule out a disruption caused by a jamming device. It was equally possible that the system had overwritten the data itself.
In the course of the trial, suspicious search queries were also mentioned — including "police — press releases" on the day of Fabian's disappearance and the question "Do wild boars eat dead people?".
Witnesses paint an incriminating picture
Numerous witnesses testified in court against Gina H. Neighbour Heike M. stated that she had been informed by the alleged perpetrator by telephone of the discovery of the body — the words were said "completely unemotionally". H. had asked: "Should I take a picture for you?", referring to Fabian's body. The same witness recounted that she had criticised Gina H. at an earlier time: "To be honest Gina, you care more about the horses than about your son."
A work colleague of Fabian's father Matthias R. reported that he had been constantly called and put under pressure by Gina H. after the separation; after the separation he had "blossomed". Another neighbour stated that Gina H. had allegedly attempted suicide during this phase.
Chief prosecutor Oliver Schley sees her "manipulative nature" confirmed by the multitude of testimonies.
Ex-partner stands by her
Gina H. was the ex-girlfriend of Fabian's father at the time of his death. The two are now a couple again. "I stand openly and honestly behind her," said Matthias R. during the proceedings. They had grown close again whilst in prison.
