A potentially massive data theft has been uncovered at a Munich municipal subsidiary company. Personal information of approximately 120,000 pupils and teachers is believed to have been compromised.
Munich's Abendzeitung reported in its Monday edition on an alleged major data breach at LHM-Services. This municipal company processes the affected data. According to the report, parts of the information were offered for sale on the darknet.
LHM-Services has since filed a criminal complaint against unknown parties. The Bavarian State Commissioner for Data Protection has also been informed of the incident. The exact background and extent of the alleged breach are currently the subject of an investigation.
