The incident occurred at approximately 23:00 at the petrol station on Dahlener Strasse, at the corner of Urftstrasse. According to information from the "Rheinische Post", the woman had previously damaged her parents' apartment door with a knife at a nearby residential building. She was already known to police.
The circumstances of the incident remain unclear. The Mönchengladbach public prosecutor's office has launched an investigation. A spokesman confirmed to the newspaper that the woman was seriously injured but provided no details about her state of health.
An extensive forensic investigation took place at the scene. White markings and a blue glove were still evidence of the major operation on Friday. Operations at the petrol station have since resumed normally.
