Raids against neo-Nazi music network in Germany and Europe
German police carried out flat searches on Wednesday in Germany and several other European countries in connection with the distribution of neo-Nazi music. According to investigators, the operations took place in Germany, Czechia, Estonia, Italy and Poland.
In various regions of Germany, officers searched the premises of four main suspects. These individuals are accused of membership in a far-right criminal organisation. According to joint statements from the Rostock Public Prosecutor's Office and the Criminal Police Office of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, the four are said to have worked together since at least 2020. Their aim was reportedly the distribution of National Socialist, antisemitic, racist and misanthropic ideology. To this end, they are said to have jointly produced and sold audio recordings of hate-filled music.
Raids were conducted at eight further individuals on suspicion of hate speech offences in connection with the aforementioned recordings. Additionally, ten further flats associated with the suspects were searched. Outside Germany, investigators searched pressing plants for vinyl records and compact discs, according to the statement. In total, more than 390 police officers from the Criminal Police Office of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern alone were involved in the operation.
