German federal prosecutors have arrested a Romanian national who wanted to establish a far-right extremist terrorist organisation. The aim was to destabilise the Romanian state and establish a Nazi-modelled regime.

German federal prosecutors announced the arrest of a Romanian citizen on Tuesday. The man is accused of wanting to build a far-right extremist terrorist group with the aim of triggering a so-called "terror war" in Romania, causing the state to collapse, and establishing a state structure modelled on National Socialism. This was disclosed by the top prosecution authority in a press release, as reported by news agency EFE, which was cited by Digi24.
The arrest took place in the state of Baden-Württemberg in south-west Germany. Police officers from this state and from Rhineland-Palatinate arrested the accused, Nichita P. Under German criminal law, he is classified as a "young adult".
The prosecution authority accuses him of attempting since early 2023, as a leader of a foreign terrorist organisation, to build it up. He is also alleged to have planned a serious act of violence endangering the state.
To recruit members, the suspect operated two channels on a German messaging service. These were aimed primarily at young Romanians. Through these platforms, he called on subscribers and followers to commit various criminal offences.
According to the charge sheet, these included, among other things, the creation of graffiti bearing far-right symbols, inciting young people to self-harm, arson attacks on buildings used by migrants or members of the LGBTQ+ community, and the killing of persons classified as "subhuman".
On these channels, Nichita P. also published instructions for the production of poisons and explosives. Likewise, construction instructions for Molotov cocktails and car bombs were shared there.
