A mutual brake-checking incident on the Magdeburger Ring led to a police operation on Friday afternoon. According to volksstimme.de, a 26-year-old and a 34-year-old motorist were involved in the incident on 25 September at approximately 13:15.
According to police, the two men repeatedly attempted to brake-check each other during the journey. At the Neustädter Feld exit, traffic conditions forced both vehicles to stop.
There, the 34-year-old got out of his car and approached the vehicle of the younger driver, apparently to confront him. The 26-year-old felt threatened by the man's behaviour and thereupon produced a blank-firing pistol legally in his possession, which he showed to the 34-year-old.
Witnesses or those involved subsequently alerted the police. The officers found both men still at the scene. The blank-firing pistol was secured during the statement-taking process.
The police launched investigative proceedings against both drivers. The authorities initially declined to comment on the specific charges. Investigations are ongoing.
