Six people were killed in a shooting in Stade in northern Germany on Monday. Police stated that the alleged gunman has been taken into custody. In addition, two further persons have been arrested who may be connected to the incident.
Police characterised the incident as a "family tragedy". All six killed individuals are adults, according to authorities. A further person was injured in the shooting, though their condition is stable.
The incident occurred near a youth centre that provides accommodation for mothers and their children. The six victims were four women and two men who worked as staff at the youth welfare centre. The shooter's three-month-old daughter and his mother were in the office at the time of the incident but remained unharmed.
According to police, the shooter was involved in a custody dispute over his three-month-old daughter. The police administration emphasised that there is no longer any danger to the public.
