In the municipality of Weißbach in Bautzen district, police conducted a search of a property on Wednesday morning. The officers discovered several firearms, a marijuana cultivation operation and components for the production of pyrotechnic devices.
Masked specialist police units cordoned off two buildings and entered an apartment with official authorisation. There they encountered a 51-year-old local resident. He is considered the main suspect in the ongoing investigation.
The officers seized, among other items, rifles, weapon components, a pocket knife and a blowgun. These items are currently being examined in the forensic laboratory. Several dogs also lived on the premises, and were captured by the officers and handed over to the relevant veterinary authority.
A police spokesperson declined to confirm to Radio Lausitz when asked whether firearms were deployed during the operation.
