In Bad Klosterlausnitz, a municipality in the eastern part of the Free State of Thuringia, the criminal police have uncovered a serious sexual crime. A 22-year-old woman was discovered overnight into Tuesday in a condition in which parts of her clothing were missing. An eyewitness had already reported to the officers at the beginning of the operation about a possible rape.
The investigators of the competent local station faced a complex situation, as the crime scene was surrounded by numerous people. Nevertheless, the criminal detectives succeeded in securing comprehensive evidence and conducting investigations.
The prosecution authority in Gera is conducting proceedings against four suspects aged 26 to 30 years. The origins of the men lie partly outside Germany: three are said to come from Iraq, one is said to hold Syrian nationality.
Initially, officers had taken two Iraqi nationals (26 and 29 years old) into custody. However, the suspicion of direct participation in the crime could not be substantiated against these two, so they were released from investigative custody.
An arrest warrant was issued by court order on the application of the public prosecutor's office for the 29-year-old man with a Syrian passport and for a 30-year-old Iraqi. The suspect originating from Syria was already transferred to a correctional facility on Wednesday. His alleged accomplice from Iraq is in flight and is being sought by the authorities.
