Spectacular car chase in Munich following jewellery shop robbery

Police have arrested two suspects following a robbery at a jewellery shop in central Munich. The subsequent car chase was conducted with 40 police cars and a helicopter, according to DPA on Wednesday.

A third man was also taken into custody, but investigators are still examining whether he was actually involved in the criminal offence on Wednesday, according to a police spokesman.

The suspects are alleged to have forcibly entered a jewellery shop and made off with loot worth several hundred thousand euros, according to police statements.

Investigators gathered evidence from the suspects' vehicle, but the spokesman did not confirm whether the stolen goods were also found in it.

The men remain in police custody and are due to be brought before a judge on Thursday.

The shop, which has no display windows with jewellery on show and looks like an ordinary retail store from the outside, specialises in luxury watches. No one was injured in the robbery.
