In the Bavarian town of Gilching, unknown individuals removed numerous sewer covers during the night leading into Saturday and left gully openings unsecured. Police are urgently seeking witnesses.

In Upper Bavarian Gilching, unknown individuals transformed stretches of road into lethal traps during the night leading into Saturday. The perpetrators removed approximately 15 sewer covers from their shafts in various locations and left the openings unsecured.
Officers from Gauting police station discovered the manipulated gullies in several residential streets during a patrol drive. The affected streets were Talhofstraße, Gutenbergstraße, Uranusstraße and Sonnenstraße.
At around 2 am, a 60-year-old motorist from Wörthsee noticed one of the open holes in Talhofstraße in time and was able to swerve. Fortunately, there were no injuries or vehicle damage.
The officers responding provisionally reinstalled the excavated covers. The investigators emphasise that such actions are far from harmless pranks. For pedestrians and motorcycle riders, exposed shafts present considerable fatal risks at night.
The public prosecutor's office is conducting an investigation into dangerous interference with road traffic. Persons who have observed anything suspicious are asked to contact Gauting police station on 089/89 31 33 00.
