A 20-year-old motorist from Wiesbaden pulled up next to a police patrol vehicle in Mainz and filmed a video for TikTok. The video shows him holding a pistol inside his car and apparently loading it. The officers who were present did not notice the incident.
A viewer of the short-video platform reported the clip to the police. Investigators were able to identify the vehicle in question based on the footage and informed all patrols. This corresponds to standard procedure when tips are received about firearms in vehicles.
Shortly afterwards, a patrol located the car in Mainz city centre. During the check, officers found the deceptively realistic toy pistol in the young man's possession. It also emerged that the vehicle no longer had valid insurance. It was seized and towed away.
Investigations are now underway against the 20-year-old for breaches of the Weapons Act and the Compulsory Insurance Act.
